Join Smollan for a day of learning, ideation, networking and stand a chance to win a cash prize at this one-day hackathon.

South Africa desperately needs more jobs and entrepreneurs to boost our economy and uplift the nation, especially in lower income areas. &InnovationSmollan and YOU will be exploring how to solve this challenge by looking for new opportunities to take everyday products and turn them into services that will have a positive social impact.

Why products to services? Think from soap to a car wash, from washing powder to a laundromat, from bread to a sandwich shop. All models that we know which take existing, mundane products and by meeting a real customer need - create a thriving industry. Is there something that mass households need that we can create, or an existing model that we can change?

Why attend:

You'll learn more about the design thinking process, service design and meet new people as you come up with an innovative, socially impactful service, with the products you use every day. You'll stand a chance to win spot prizes throughout the day and a cash prize of R5000 for the winning team!

Who should attend:

Students, Designers, Social Impact (aspiring) Entrepreneurs, experts in the field of FMCG's and anyone wanting to learn more about product / service design. It is going to be a fun experience for all participants!
