Exploring Sauvignon Blanc & Semillon
Tue Feb 25, 18:30 - Tue Feb 25, 20:00
Grape Slave Tasting Room
ABOUT
Sauvignon Blanc is one of the world's most popular grape varieties. It is used to make a dry, single varietal wine across the globe from South Africa to New Zealand. In Bordeaux, France, Sauvignon Blanc is blended with another white grape variety, Semillon, to produce the eponymous Bordeaux Blanc blend. White blends in this style are made all over the world. Why do these varieties work so well together? Is this a case where the sum is greater than the parts? Join us for an evening tasting Sauvignon Blanc, Semillon as well as blends from the two varieties as we workshop our way through some outstanding wines. Highlights are sure to include: The Fledge & Co. Fumé Blanc, Richard Kershaw's Smugglers Boot Sauvignon Blanc/Semillon, Thorne & Daughter's Tin Soldier, Boekenhoutskloof Semillon and Steenberg's Magna Carta.
