Foulkes meets Winnicott: Interaction, Destruction and Discovery

Sat May 11, 11:00 - Sat May 11, 12:30

Event is online

ABOUT

Both Foulkes and Winnicott emphasize the importance of creating a space in which clients are able to discover themselves rather than looking to the wisdom of the therapist for insight or cure. Both explore the centrality of interaction - challenging contemporary ideas concerning the location of illness and difficulty.

Mike will share some of his experiences of work and life, using the ideas of Foulkes and Winnicott to provide a way of thinking about turbulent and confusing interactions.

Mike Tait is a group analyst and drama therapist who has spent most of his life working in therapeutic communities with young people and with the staff groups. He has found the ideas of D. W. Winnicott in relation to development, S.H Foulkes in relation to groups and Pat De Mare in relation to large groups and culture helpful and inspiring.
