FICA - A TOTAL MAKE-OVER: 2023

Property Practitioners are the GATEWAY to the property transaction process and therefore the FIC expect each registered Property Practitioners Business to be compliant according to the FATF expectations and their focus on the property industry. – “Property Practitioners “fail” as Designated Non-Financial Business Professions” – FATF 2021 & Correction will remove SA from the Greylist” – FATF 2022.


Based on the following: 

  • FIC Act changes in December 2022. 
  • The 2 FIC information sessions (Feb & March), 
  • Directives 
  • NEW RMCP expectations and 
  • PCCs released by the FIC this year.
  • FIC Centres DIRECT supervision and proof thereof to FATF


We will include:

  • Changes as Gazetted 31 December 2022
  • Risk Management and Compliance Programme (RMCP) changes as set out by the FIC March 2023
  • Understanding of money laundering (ML), terrorist financing (TF) and proliferation financing (PF) risks
  • Customer Due Diligence (Client identification, screening of TFS list, verification)
  • Screening and risk rating of all employees (Directive 8 – immediately effective)
  • Reporting
  • Training 
  • Record keeping 
  • Due Diligence 
  • Beneficial Ownership
  • Risk-based approach
  • Reporting and threshold changes
  • FPEP, DPEP & PIP – (Changes)
  • Supporting documents and methods with the necessary changes


PPRA - Education Update

  • Deadline of 30 June 2023 requiring compliance with Education Regulations will not be extended.

  • The consequences of being rendered disqualified as a property practitioner in terms of 50(b)(ii) of the PPA.

R100 for Agent, Intern, person from the same office requiring a certificate of Compliance / Training / Attendance for each additional ticket. (This cost does not include the pack).

THE NEW FICA Pack will be available with the new improved RMCP and the updated forms to perform the FICA process and include proof of compliance according to the FIC and FATF expectations. 


The new RMCP can be used as a training tool for your employees and as proof of methods used.
