Do you know the difference between you and your online persona? Is your online persona as a contemporary theorist, a beauty influencer, or a staunch Christian the real you? We’re losing the distinction between what’s real and what isn’t. And the more time we spend on social media, the more the line between the virtual us and the real us is becoming blurred beyond recognition. 

Here/Offline explores the predicaments of social media, the dangers of social networking space and surveillance capitalism. Using the fragments from personal stories it investigates the consequences of our social media overdose especially its damage to our collective mental health. Mediating between our consciousness and the external world, our persona is driven and consumed by what others think about us. By presenting the most desirable versions of ourselves, it helps us fit in with society, hiding our ugly animalistic impulses beneath a cultured exterior.
