WHAT IS THIS EVENT ALL ABOUT?
Despite the many problems we face in South Africa, there are so many local success stories to celebrate. The one we'd like to focus on here is the success story of the local shoe brand named Veldskoen. We recently reached out to Nick Dreyer, co-founder of Veldskoen, and asked him if he'd be interested in co-hosting an event with us where he can share the lessons he has learned in the last seven years in growing Veldskoen into one of the biggest shoe brands in South Africa.
Since the inception of the little internet shoe shop in 2016, Veldskoen has expanded into a global brand! They now have distribution partners on every continent, as well as some pretty fancy investors and supporters.
Having spent some time with Nick recently, we learned so much about the Veldskoen journey and we think you will benefit massively from hearing how he started Veldskoen, as well as the lessons he learned along the way as he built Veldskoen into one of South Africa's biggest shoe brands. Mark Sham will be interviewing Nick Dreyer on the night and you won't want to miss this incredible learning opportunity.
This event will be taking place on the evening of Wednesday, 30 November 2022 at The Tryst and there is no cost to attend. WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT THE VELDSKOEN BRAND?
After watching the opening ceremony of the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio, Nick Dreyer and Ross Zondagh were fairly unimpressed with the South African kit. They began imagining what the athletes could have been wearing that would have better represented South Africa. Zondagh suggested a pair of leather Veldskoen, because they are iconic South African shoes. Dreyer responded that most Veldskoen weren’t exactly fashionable. And so, they began chatting about ways to make the shoe more attractive The answer came in the form of the brightly coloured soles and laces; Veldskoen’s trademark look today.
