ABOUT

The Cape Town Philharmonic Wind Quintet presents an afternoon concert of French and Danish music. Carl Nielsen’s Quintet for Winds Op.43 is one of his most widely performed works, and is a foundation of the wind quintet genre. Nielsen composed the work for colleagues in Copenhagen in 1922, masterfully combining the five instruments’ contrasting timbres while showcasing their individual characters. Also on the programme will be a selection of music from composers Jacques Ibert and Charles-Édouard Lefebvre.

Limited seating available.
