We invite you to take a musical voyage from the banks of the delta to the dive bars, university hangouts, and honky tonks where a young generation of musicians took the blues and mixed it up with country, soul, and a little rock n' roll to birth what we know today as Southern Rock.
Freebird takes you on a musical journey starting from the founding fathers as the Allman Brothers Band and Lynyrd Skynyrd all the way back up to the '90s with The Black Crowes. Freebird also takes a slight detour to the good ol' boys from Texas, ZZ Top, then slight left to Canada with The Band.

Come and watch some of South Africa's top musicians make you groove to the southern beat. On the guitar duties, we have legendary axemen, Henry Steel & Basson Laubscher. The groove section is filled out by Jorik Pienaar on the skins and Wouter Reyenke on the low end. Bringing her sultry soul on the bluesy vocals is the amazing Esme Fox. On the gravely Texas groove, we have Jéandre Swanepoel on the vox as well. Lastly, we have the man on the hammond organ Ruben Swart.
